All of the business areas in Daka Denmark have safe, sustainable and productive management of natural resources as a focal point. For almost 100 years, Daka Denmark has been guarantor for safe handling, but also sustainable recycling and recycling of by-products from agriculture and the food industry.
This is where Daka SARVAL comes into the picture. SARVAL produces high quality proteins and fats for livestock feed mixes, pet food and fish meal. The water and heat left over from the production are used in the local area. The nutrient-rich, treated wastewater runs out on a nearby marker, while the heat is utilized for local district heating in close collaboration with Løsning Fjernvarme.

Excess heat from Daka provides cheap and sustainable district heating
When the Daka SARVALs factory in Løsning produces feed from the slaughterhouses’ by-products, there is water and heat left over. The nutrient-rich, treated wastewater is discharged into the nearby fields, as fertiliserm while the heat is utilized for local district heating in close collaboration with Løsning Fjernvarme. In April 2020, a new pipeline was inaugurated, which in the long run can supply heat to 660 households.
